Since 1996, Northwest Farm Credit Services has provided scholarships to a limited number of customers' sons and daughters and have expanded the program to include customers returning to school. The program has been expanded even further to include a total of 32 scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each (six high school and two college winners per state), awarded in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.
To be eligible for the program, students must be a:
- Son or daughter of a current Northwest Farm Credit Services' customer
- Current customer or customer's spouse returning to higher education
- Current customer's employee or employee's son or daughter
- High school senior or a college junior or sophomore
Scholarship winners will be selected based on school and community involvement, scholastic performance, and educational goals and needs. Any career or major is eligible; however, a preference will be given to those students who plan to pursue an ag-related career. Application deadlines are in March and scholarships are awarded in May.
