Since 1996, Northwest Farm Credit Services has provided scholarships to customers' sons and daughters as well as customers returning to school. The program has again been expanded to include a total of 44 scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each (eight high school and three college winners per state), awarded in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.
To be eligible for the program, students must be a:
- Son or daughter of a current Northwest Farm Credit Services' customer
- Current customer or customer's spouse returning to higher education
- Current customer's employee or employee's son or daughter
- High school senior or a college junior, sophomore or freshman (when applying)
Scholarship winners will be selected based on school and community involvement, scholastic performance, and educational goals and needs. Any career or major is eligible; however, a preference will be given to those students who plan to pursue an ag-related career. Application deadlines are in March and scholarships are awarded in May.
